I haven't posted much about how Aubrey has been doing at school so I think it's time I rectify that.
Overall Aubrey really likes school her teacher is Mrs. Shenks and they have one teachers assistant Mrs. Brightwell and they now have a student teacher as well Ms. Seaderstrum. The only complaint I've heard from the teacher is that Aubrey likes to talk and has trouble staying on task sometimes. This doesn't surprise me at all since she's exactly the same way at home. We are working on it I've been using a chart and she gets stickers for completing a task without arguing and without me having to remind her to keep at it. It's a work in progress but hopefully it will help some. Other than that though she is doing great and is on level with where she should be in class.
They have a few extra programs the kids are encouraged to do as well. They have the Principal's word club where they have 5 lists of words to learn (white, red, blue, silver, and gold) when they know all the words from one list (30 or so on each one) they take them back and if they get them all right they get the next list. She is now on her gold list and she is doing really well with them hopefully she will get them all in the next week or so. When they get all the lists done they are in the Principal's word club and get something from the principals treasure chest. I've had a few incentives at home for her when she gets the lists done she has so far earned her rainbow loom, and a new 31 lunch tote with her name on it.
The other program is the Bookworm club they started it after Christmas break. They brought home little books to read when they could read it themselves you sent it back after signing it and they read it at school then got a new one. When they got 10 books done they were in the Bookworm club and moved on to the harder books. She did really well with these and completed the original 10 several weeks ago! Now she gets a little harder books and they come with a two page work sheet to complete about the story. So far she has done 3 of them so hopefully she will keep up the great work there too.
I have been amazed at the stuff they want them to be able to do at her age! They have to be able to write a sentence and draw a picture about themselves, they are working on addition and subtraction, identifying compound words and parts of sentences. It seems like so much for that age but so far she is doing really well.
The other bit of Aubrey news is that at her dentist appointment last week they told her she has her first 2 loose teeth! She was SOOOO excited when she got home and has been playing with them every since. One is pretty loose the other one not as bad but it's both of the bottom front teeth.
