A day at the farm

Saturday mom and dad came down to spend the weekend with us.  We have a long list of want to do's around the house and it is next to impossible to get them done with the kids underfoot most of the time.  With mom and dad there we were able to get several things checked off the list and have some fun too!

I put a pork loin in the crock pop for supper then we headed to Deere Farm in Lanesville to see some animals and pick a pumpkin.  We met the kids previous daycare lady Angela and  her family there to visit with them for the day.  Our kids are close in age and get along pretty good, Kaden and Decklan obviously missed each other and had a good time playing.  First we went to jump on the bounce house I think that was the kids favorite since we went back several times.  After jumping a few minutes we took a ride to see the animals.  At the animal area they have a pig race every hour we got to watch the race and it was pretty funny.  After visiting the animals we headed back to the main area and let the kids bounce some more and get a snack.  We bought some bags of sand and fossils and mined for fossils until the water stopped and they couldn't get it going again.  Aubrey is very interested in rocks and fossils so she is enjoying trying to figure out what they are.  The kids went down a huge slide they had there quite a few times and they all rode the ponies then we went to the pumpkin patch.  It was really grown up but we were able to find a pumpkin for each of the kids. After we got our pumpkins we headed out since everyone was pretty hot.

After we got back to the house I had a customer for my Thirty-one business come over she was interested in sighing up under me so we talked a while and she signed up so I have a recruit!  If I have someone else sign up under me I will be promoted to Senior Consultant and get a little raise.  I enjoy it so hopefully I can pass the gift to another woman.

We ate supper after they left and settled down for the evening.  The kids played with their blocks with Grandma and Grandpa and Aubrey read to them for a while.

Sunday we worked around the house.  Wes helped me finish getting a coat of sealer on the dormers on the front of the house.  The house needs to be stained/sealed every 5-8 years from what we figure it has been 5 years since the last coat was put on.  The logs look ok yet but the siding really needs to be done.  This was the first section we've been able to get done hopefully we can do a little more before it gets too cold and do the rest in the spring. Dad was also able to trim up several bushes that needed it and he replanted some tulip bulbs and lilies that needed to be moved.  We also got the trees in the back that were down cut up.  Overall we had a really productive, fun weekend!
