For those of you that don't know Wes competes in Powerlifting competitions. Normally he just does deadlift and he holds the State record for his weight class at 520lbs. He had a competition this weekend in Louisville so Aubrey got to watch her daddy lift for the first time :)
He had a great competition getting his first three lifts pretty easily at 475lbs, 495lbs, then his record lift at 520lbs (he beat his old record of 515lbs). Normally they get three lifts but if they get their third lift they are allowed a fourth attempt to break a record or imporve a personal best. He told them he wanted to do 530lbs as that would get him into the top 100 for the country which has been his goal for years and he felt confident he could do it. Well the guy that runs the competition is a good guy and he likes to push the guys if he knows they can do more. He's always trying to help them out with their form or whatever they need help with. He decided that Wes could do more than 530 so he told them to load the bar with 540lbs and didn't tell Wes. Well he got close but couldn't lock it out. The guy that runs it said something about it being 540 to me after he was done and I told him why he wanted the 530 and he was like oops. I went and told Wes so he went and asked if he could try the 530. He got close but was out of energy after the other four lifts so he didn't get it. Overall he was really happy though he had a good day.
Aubrey was such a good girl the whole time too she slept most of the time and the rest of the time she chilled out in her stroller. I have a picture of her with Wes and his trophies I will try to upload later I don't have it on my computer at work.
