Aubrey's first swim lesson
Well it didn't exactly go as I had envisioned but by the end she was having fun and hopefully she'll warm up more quickly next time. This class is mostly about getting the child used to being in the water and teaching them and the parent about safety. Starting off we had to leave the child on the side of the pool with the instructor while we got into the water then we were supposed to use a key phrase to let them know it was ok to get in the water. She didn't want to get in! I was shocked as we've been to this pool several times and she's loved it. I went ahead and took her into the pool though and she proceeded to cling to me like an octopus for the next 15 minutes not even letting me put her on my hip to hold her. They wanted us to let them on their belly (with our arms supporting them) and on their back and then out to the side and have them kick. She wouldn't do any of it. Then the instructor got out floating fish and a hoop and had the kids get the fish and put them in the hoop. They were supposed to be to our side and kick to get the fish but Aubrey wouldn't do that. She did finally get into it though and would pick up the fish and throw them into the hoop. After that she started to loosed up some. We practiced getting into the pool then and she really liked that and started to actually jump in to me. Then it was like she decided it was fun and she participated in the other activities. The class was really full I think the max is 10 and that was probably what was there plus all the other parents sitting on the side and there were two other classes going on as well. We're going to miss class Thursday since we'll be in Gatlinburg but hopefully next Tuesday she'll warm up a little faster and enjoy it the whole time.

That's too bad! I wonder what was going through her little mind? Sounds like something Ciara would do too though.
